CAH&C Auxiliary offers spring gift-giving suggestion
We think of giving gifts as a winter holiday-season tradition, but spring offers opportunities, too, especially in May and June. Those prized, weather-friendly months give us Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, engagements and weddings, Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Juneteenth, as well as individual birthdays.
The Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary has this suggestion that can fit any one of those occasions: A commemorative etched brick with three lines of 20 characters that can carry your special message to the recipient. The “recipient” can be an individual, a group, a family member, someone who has served their country in the military, as a police officer, or as a first-responder, as well as teachers, nurses, or a civic organization.
The brick is also a way for a buyer to honor a deceased family member or friend.
Each brick costs $125 and includes the three-line/20-character brick, a miniature duplicate brick, and a gift card, upon request. According to program coordinator, Judy Minster, “From now on, we will place brick orders once a year at the end of December. People can order the bricks at any time during the year, but we’ll place the order once, at the end of the year, instead of June and December.”
Upon delivery to Carlinville Area Hospital each spring, the commemorative bricks will be placed in the special patio near the front entrance, as weather allows. Minster will contact buyers that the bricks have been placed and the miniatures can be picked up at a convenient location.
Application forms are available at Carlinville Area Hospital or through Minster at 217-854-6663 or her home: 503 E. First North St., Carlinville. She can also help with the etched wording so it fits the format. Checks should be made out to Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary and mailed to Minster, dropped off at her house, or given to the person on duty at the Auxiliary’s Retail Therapy gift shop in the hospital lobby.
