Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics Announces Retirement – Elects New Board Members
Carlinville, IL – Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics announces the retirement of long-standing Board Chairman J. Richard Schien. Richard joined the hospital’s Board of Directors in 1979 and has been active in the technological advancements and physical growth the hospital has seen since then. During the Annual Joint Board Meeting, Richard was congratulated on his retirement from the organization after serving 42 years. “I am proud to have had a small part in improving healthcare for our community,” said Schien. Richard will be joining the Carlinville Area Hospital Foundation Board, a not-for-profit companion corporation to Carlinville Area Hospital.
Long-time Board member Dennis Pickrel has been elected into the role of Board Chairman. Dennis graduated from Missouri Western University, receiving a bachelor's degree in Electro Mechanical Technology. Before starting the software company e-doc Architects, Dennis performed a dramatic turnaround for a division of Fortune 500 Life Fitness/Bruswick Corporation. He is a retired Comptroller for New Life Media, Lake Williamson Conference Center and Illinois District Council. “After serving on the Foundation Board and the Hospital Board for thirteen years, it is my honor to follow Richard Schien as Board Chairman,” said Pickrel, “Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics is a special place with dedicated team members focused on serving the Carlinville area with exceptional healthcare.”
Carlinville area hospital & Clinics is also pleased to announce that Katie Goodman-Thomas and Tom Denby have joined the organization’s board of directors.
Dr. Katie Goodman-Thomas is a Carlinville native who graduated from Western Illinois University, receiving a bachelor's degree in Zoology and a minor in Psychology and Chemistry. After graduation, she attended The Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2011. Since graduating from optometry school, Katie has been practicing at Carlinville Eye Care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. Locally, Katie serves on the Carlinville Public School Foundation board, Carlinville Area Hospital Foundation Board, and is an active Carlinville Lion’s Club member.
Thomas D. Denby is also a native of Carlinville who graduated from Milliken University and completed Law School at St. Louis University School of Law. He has been a practicing attorney in the Carlinville area since 1990 and is currently the principal attorney for Denby Law, located in Carlinville. Tom has recently served on the Carlinville Area Hospital Foundation Board, as well as the Macoupin County Community Foundation.
