Hospital Auxiliary
Dedicated to service.
For more than 60 years, the Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary has supported the hospital’s commitment to provide the best possible healthcare services. Starting with the original building on Morgan Street in the early 1950s, the Auxiliary’s volunteers have engaged in an ongoing campaign to raise money, morale, and levels of care for the hospital’s patients and staff members.
Today, the Auxiliary volunteers’ commitment and dedication are as strong as ever. The Auxiliary lists more than 120 members, making it one of the largest service organizations in Macoupin County.
The membership is diverse. It includes men and women, volunteers ages 16-96, people from a broad array of occupations, backgrounds, and incomes. What binds this eclectic group is a desire to support the hospital and ultimately the Carlinville Area community. By enhancing the hospital’s goals, the Auxiliary enriches and fosters pride in the entire community.
A primary goal of the Auxiliary is to raise money to help the Hospital buy additional equipment, including state-of-the-art computer technology, and provide special services that make the patient’s hospital stay more comfortable and more rewarding.
To raise these funds, the Auxiliary engages in special projects managed by its volunteers. These include:
-
The Retail Therapy gift shop, located in the lobby, serves the gift and notions needs of patients, visitors, and hospital staff members.
-
The CareLink® Medical Alert Service helps keep your loved ones safe and secure while maintaining independence within their home. CareLink allows anyone living at home to quickly summon help at the touch of a button 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
-
In cooperation with the Central Illinois Community Blood Center (sole supplier of blood to Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics), the Auxiliary-sponsored blood drives do not directly generate money but do provide life-saving blood to Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics and other healthcare facilities in Central Illinois.
Membership opportunities
The Auxiliary encourages area residents to join its dynamic organization. Volunteers and prospective volunteers are invited to attend a dinner meeting on the second Tuesday in May and November. Members are also welcome to attend Auxiliary board meetings on the second Tuesday in February and August.
Active members — i.e., those who are involved in the Auxiliary’s programs and projects — pay just $15 a year for dues. Friends of the Auxiliary pay $20 a year and are not required to participate in Auxiliary activities but may do so if they wish.
